Time Flies When Thing Are Fun

Time Flies When Thing Are Fun

I worked on our single release most of the day today and WOW.

It didn't feel like all that much work, even though I have completed most of the items on my whiteboard.

All the things I learned over the last couple of years are coming in incredibly handy right now. Things still take time, but I don't have to google around and figure out how to do things from scratch. I know how to write Facebook posts or Tweets and I know how to make the graphics for that.

I have enough presence of mind to keep myself organized juuuust enough to not have everything be a complete mess and I am learning how to sit on things for a while before just shouting them out into the world.

As we speak, I am sitting on a teaser video, several graphics for social media, a newly mastered song, a karaoke video, and a lyric video.

Used to be that I felt the urge to publish everything right when it was finished. Dealing with the music release has cured that. It was very hard to the beginning, but there really is no other option other than to space things out. Just getting the music to every platform takes time and if you want it to be everywhere at the same time, the only way to accomplish it is to schedule ahead and wait.

Interestingly, my frustration tolerance with these things is really high when it comes to the music project. What would have annoyed me to no end on any other project just rolls right off my back in this one. Things really ARE a lot easier when you’re doing them for something you’re really into.

Don’t get me wrong, it is still a lot of work. Some of it is tedious and not my favourite thing. But doing it for a good reason makes all the difference.

I don’t think it’s really like “do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”. It’s more like “do what you love and you won’t mind the tedious bits as much.”

Of course, that’s not as catchy.
