Life And The All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet

Imagine an all-you-can-eat-buffet. There are lots of things on the table. You know some of them but there is plenty you have never eaten before. Of the things you’ve tried, some you like, some you hate, and some you feel indifferent about.

You can fill your plate with whatever you want. All the things are on your plate because you picked them up and put them there. When your plate is too full, it gets messy. When your plate is too empty, you have to get up and get some more from the table lest you starve.

It would appear that life is a lot like an all-you-can-eat-buffet.

Plenty of stuff on offer but you do have to pick it up. Nobody is going to wait on you. You can ask other people for recommendations but ultimately, only you can tell if it tastes good or bad. If you want to change the flavour of your life, you have to pick up different things from the table. If you never try any of the new things, you will be eating the same thing for most of your life. Unless you let someone else pick for you?

Some of us like to eat the same things over and over again and feel very happy with our choice. Some of us, though, think that what we are eating doesn’t taste right. If that’s you, go back to the table. Pick up something else. It’s not going to be brought to you.
