It's Magic!

It's Magic!

Wouldn't it be great if you could make things happen as if by magic? You'd say your spell and BAM, stuff would happen. People would do what you want, you'd have all the helps you need, and things would be going well.

Money would come to you, your neighbour would finally turn down the music after ten PM, and the laundry would stop piling up.

Ah, life would be so much better if all you had to do was say a few magic words for things to happen.

Well.

Actually, the magic of "I say something and then it happens" pops up every day in your life.

You already know the spell, too.

It's called "asking".

"That doesn't count" you'll say.

But hear me out.

What does it matter if the words you are saying to get what you want are "please help me do this" or "abracadabra". The result is the same both times. You said something and then what you asked for happened. You made a sound, the world responded.

That's magic alright, no?

I think sometimes we get too focused on how we don't want to have to ask for everything. Like asking is a bad thing and good stuff should just happen on its own. But if you think about it, not even fairy tale magic works that way.

In fairy tales, there is always a spell, an incantation, a ritual. Something to make stuff happen.

So, think of your words like magic spells and think of asking like using magic.

Instead of feeling resentful that you have to ask, you can feel grateful because you have this magic talent called "asking people for stuff". It is a great power, not "yet another thing you have to do".

I mean think about it.

Really big things can happen because you ask.

I once organized a conference in Seattle and people flew halfway around the world just because I asked them to. That felt like magic to me. All I did was ask.

All you have to do is ask.

Try it and see what happens.

It's pure magic.
